Welcome to the official and only website of Daniel "Danny O" O'Connor. Danny O's original and distinctive style reflects his resourceful nature, transforming everyday objects into vibrant collages utilizing a range of mediums
Extensively trained and naturally gifted, Danny O made art his profession at an early age. As a child he drew cartoons for his father's friends, sold pencil portraits and local businesses hired him to design t-shirts and marketing posters. After high school, Danny decided to travel, and became a US Navy artist and photographer before attending art school, first at Boston University, then transferring to the prestigious Cooper Union School of Fine Art.
Danny O's unique approach of making art by transforming everyday objects into an art supply emerged, while a painting student at Cooper Union. A student with a limited budget, Danny left the art supply store, paint and brushes in hand and came across a pile of magazines on a street in New York. Taking note of the papers vibrant color, Danny's inventive imagination and resourceful nature prompted him to utilize a range of mediums to create his art.
Vintage record albums serve as his canvas, as he paints with colorful magazine paper and found lottery tickets or creates intricate Scotch Tape illustrations and graphics with comics and newsprint. His prolific output is joyful to the eye and reflects the beauty in everyday life, creating a sense of nostalgia.
Danny O's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries and his images have been licensed extensively. His work is available in retail and specialty stores across the country, appearing as wall paper, posters, prints, calendars, dessert plates, coffee mugs, tin signs, a line of children's scrap booking, stickers, note cards, postcards, and t-shirts.
A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Danny O currently resides and works from his studio on the coast of New Hampshire with his wife, Jennifer and newborn daughter Riley.
